Wayner,

I skimmed over the thread and am not sure what you mean by back-spacing. I am currently running 4.5 Mangeles all around and am using the skinny tires. I had Greg leave the rear axels longer because I thought the rears would be too far inside the fender, but they aren't. They are extending just about flush with the fender outside edge. I am looking for something like this:

Is there an adjustment I can make to achieve this? Thanks.

The 5.5 rims have an extra inch on the outside lip.

A 4.5 and long axles has the same appearance as a 5.5 and a short axle.

If you want the rear wheel to sit inboard more, you could either go with short axles, or check and see if there is enough meat on the 4.5 rim to move the rim centre farther out.

(4 welds to grind, reposition the centre, and re weld).
