Still has to put on the front tube and some more cross bracing then off to powder coat. It looks like Greg is using thicker tubing than he was before on the cross bracing.

Perhaps so. It wasn't all that noticible last friday (when I visited to joyride in Simons' car). A tad more wieght with the benefit of a more rigid frame?

I suspect more rigidity. I know he is making more improvments all the time.

Anyone with a vintage may be able to answer these questions. Just in front of the front hoop there is a mounting plate with 3 bolts only on the right side, what is this plate for. Secondly, on the rear there are 2 very thin tubes that go from the center of the cockpit to the sides of the frame and then continue back, what are these for.
Thanks.

Is this the tube you are talking about? (borrowed from the picture above) My pure guess would be the parking brake routing tubes, since there is one pointing to each rear hub. Do I win anything for a correct guess?

AFA the plate, I will guess the glove compartment anchor plate, or the plate to mount the windshield wiper motor.

Yes that the tube George and I guess thats what they are for. I had thought that also but not sure. As far as the plate it is welded down on the floor. Where the fuel pump goes, only it is on the passenger side.
Thanks anyhow Simon. Maybe you can ask Greg for me. He sent me some new pics today and it is comming along great. George if you want, I can forward the pics to you and you will see the plate I am talking about.

Are you talking about the plate on the floorboard? It's for the diagonal beam of the rollbar.

Thank you Driven, that makes sense. I suppose if you are not using that type of roll bar, you just cover the plate up.

Thanks

Yes, the plate with three holes is for a cross brace for a roll bar. The only problem with using this type of brace is, it eliminates the possibility of having a passenger. I had an additional/identical plate welded in on the left side and had the roll hoop braced twice, one left, one right. It allows for a passenger/coach for tracking purposes.
